Sew, I thought I'd share my sewing room with you for the Blog Hop Party..
Sew.. I've been cleaning my sewing room. I spent the last Day and a half cleaning & rearranging the room.. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm close...
I thrive in chaos.. OR so I thought..
Before starting any new projects I wanted to figure out what I have for fabrics..
So, I started bin by bin taking fabric out and organizing it by size & folding it nicely..
As I was cleaning & folding said stash I started to toss little pieces I know I will pass over into a bag for Sister C.. The bag quickly morphed into 2 bags and a box of scraps.. Sew after a few e-mails I'm going to send a box to Vroomans' Quilts too. :)
But, then I thought as my 'giveaway' I'd give a bag of my 'scraps' to those Scrap lovers on the Blog Hop Party.. :) Not all my 'scraps' are small by any means. You can ask Sister C @ Quilt Doodles When she did her postage stamp quilt she used a bag of scraps she got from me.

I would add them to my scrap stash and probably use them in multipul projects like mini pouches.
ReplyDeleteThere's no such thing as too many scraps! I love having as many choices as possible when making scrappy quilts. I am currently cutting 1" squares for a queen-sized quilt! Mama taught me to share, so anything I can't use, I pass along to someone else.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the drawer units on the table. I have those and a pain to bend over to 'find' things - I need a skinny table - then the totes can go under it for a neat set up - thank you.

Doesn't it feel good to get organised! I have a similar drawers on wheels unit, with smaller drawers on top. I use it for all my gadgets and gismos, and thread. It keeps them safe from the cat. Would love to win your scraps. I want to do a small 9 patch quilt.

ReplyDeleteI'm in love with fabric scraps. I find that I am more likely to make stuff from little pieces of fabric, than I am to go out an buy a yard of fabric. With the scraps that you send, I would love to make placemats or mug rugs! :) Thanks!

ReplyDeletewell I frist would go through them get a feel for what's in there. Maybe set a side a few scraps I think would make themselve perfectly on a small gift for a friend or family and then sort ba material and then throw it in with my own scraps in a box thoroughly shake/stir it and make scrap blocks - just pick a handful of fabrics out of the box and figure out how to sew them together to make them somewhat squarish ... alternatively cut them into squares first and then sew them together

Scraps! I'm a relatively new quilter, and I can already see I'm going to build up a collection of scraps. I'm looking forward to it, because I LOVE scrappy quilts. I have been cutting my project leftovers into equal-sized squares with the aim of a postage stamp quilt when I have enough. That's what I'd add your scraps to :)

ReplyDeleteI am actually working on three scrap quilts at the moment - a couple are long-term projects. One is a 2.5-inch postage stamp-style quilt; another is a 1.5-inch hexagon flower quilt; and the last (and most long-term) is a collection of 3/4-inch hexagons that will someday be a monumental scrap quilt. So your scraps wuld certainly find a happy and useful home with me! Thanks for the chance :-)
ReplyDeleteYou don't know how much I love scraps! I think scrappy quilts are so interesting! I also use scraps to make mini or doll quilts. these are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love scraps - I've used 1.5" squares to make a split nine patch doll quilt for my granddaughter and it's one of my absolute favorites. I'm also hooked on Gyleen Fitzgerald's pineapple block - it makes great quilts.

All of my quilts are made with scraps, and new scraps would make their way into my color quilt, as well as other quilts in progress, like my Virginia Bound (Bonnie Hunter pattern). ReplyDeleteFirst, I'd sort them by size. Second, cut them into usable pieces: from strips down to 2 1/2" squares. Third, throw odds and ends into applique bin. Fourth, check to see if I have enough to make a ___ ___ yet. Fifth, smile and pat self on back while drooling.

ReplyDeleteTo be quite honest, I was never interested in scraps. I actually (gasp!) threw mine out when I finished a project. Then I started seeing all these blog posts and tutorials for the granny square quilts and fell in LOVE! I want to make one!! Scraps are perfect for that and I don't have any! My fault. :) So I would use your scraps to jump-start my future granny square quilt.
